Senior Firmware Engineer

The Senior Firmware Engineer is a hands-on design position engaged in the firmware development and sustaining of detection equipment. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, they will have the responsibility for designing, implementing, testing, and supporting firmware controlling embedded processors in both wired and wireless networks. They will apply knowledge of embedded software, communications protocols, electronic circuits, signal processing, and wireless networks to perform their daily design tasks.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar from a recognized college or university.
  • Several years of progressive experience in design, engineering or manufacturing

Your Tasks

  • Provide technical assistance on a variety of electrical engineering topics, designing and supporting embedded software and firmware applications
  • Participates in product architecture, design, development, and deployment
  • Invested in the product from early to late stages, interacting with new users, understanding customer needs, and resolving any issues that may arise
  • Conjures time estimates for tasks and keeps peers informed
  • Investigates and debugs complex system problems and leads solutions to improve and correct.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, problem solving, failure analysis, root cause, and corrective action as required for production related issues as related to materials, processes, and equipment.

Your Profile

  • Proficient with the C programming Language and familiar with common software development practices
  • Experience with micro-controllers (ARM-Cortex series preferred)
  • Good understanding of schematics and circuit diagrams
  • Several years knowledge and experience with Firmware development.
  • Experienced with RTOS (desirably FreeRTOS)
  • Good understanding of FPGA
  • Experience with communication interfaces (USB, Ethernet, etc)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Positive mindset and have a 'hands-on' approach
  • Must be able to travel as needed up to 10%
